Deborah Rawlings.

Deborah Rawlings, born in Auckland, New Zealand, studied piano at the School of Music, University of Auckland,with Prof. Tamas Vesmas, and received her Bachelor of Music (Honours) with first class Honours. Alongside numerous other scholarships and awards, she received the Licentiate of the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music, London. Deborah Rawlings was twice a recipient of DAAD (Deutscher Akademischer Austauschdienst) scholarshipsand was a finalist at the Brahms competition in Poertschach in 2012.

In Europe.she continued her studies at the Musikhochschule Münster with Prof. Clemens Rave, and subsequently completed her Master of Music degree in vocal accompaniment at the Hochschule für Musik und Tanz Cologne with Prof. Jürgen Glauss with “excellence”. She received further impulses at master classes with renowned pianists such as Konstantin Scherbakov, Fred Oldenburg and Steven Glaser, as well as in vocal accompaniment with the singers Peter Schreier, Ingeborg Danz and Susanne Kelling. Thevocal accompanists Stefan Irmer, Tobias Krampen, Michael Gees and Kelvin Grout have influenced her further

Concerts with the contemporary music ensemble consord (previously ensemble:hörsinn), founded 2005, have led her to Berlin, Cologne, Paris, Amsterdam, Warsaw and Minsk. Together, they have performed many world premieres. With the violinist Seran Lim, she received the „critic’s prize“ for the best concert in 2013 at the Seoul Arts Centre (South Korea). In the 2017/2018 season, she appeared in „Wie klingt Nimmerland?“ at the Theater Münster.

Deborah Rawlings’ repertoire is diverse, ranging from baroque to contemporary works. However, her main passion lies in the late romantic, expressionism and modern repertoire of the 20thand 21stCenturies.  Currently, she performs in Germany and beyond.Her versatility is revealed throughthe various constellations in which she performs, as a soloist, chamber musician and vocal accompanist, in concerts, theatre, master classes and international competitions (including classic winds in Hamburg).

Deborah Rawlings is a lecturer in accompaniment and piano at the Musikhochschule Münster and Westphalian School of Music, and hasalsoaccompanied at various universities and theatres (including the Hochschule für Musik und Tanz Köln, Pollicino by Hans Werner Henze, Theater Münster).
